Sometimes, our guides push us to take a path we're not sure of, just to stop us from standing at the crossroads for too long. It may not be a path we're supposed to walk for long, but there is always a reason, and always something to be learned.

Last week, I spent a day reading tarot for the lovely folks of Abergavenny, which was incredible. I was kept busy for most of the day and met some wonderful people. However, the experience gave me a whole new perspective on what it means to be a pro tarot reader, and just how much personal energy it takes to read for strangers. As an introverted, autistic empath, I found connecting with others on such a deep level overwhelming. By the end of the day, I had nothing left and despite doing all the usual cleansing and grounding, itโ€™s taken me a few days to recover enough to pick up one of my beloved tarot decks again.

So, where do I go now? Well, I still love tarot, divination and all things mystical and magickal (don’t worry, I’m not converting), but at this time, reading tarot as a career is not healthy for me. Sometimes, our guides push us to take a path we’re not sure of, just to stop us from standing at the crossroads for too long. It may not be a path we’re supposed to walk for long, but there is always a reason, and always something to be learned. I would love to be able to share my passion with the world, on my own terms, without the pressure of having to make a living from it. Iโ€™ve enjoyed video production and content creation for many years in other areas of my life, and would like to continue building the world of Silvery Magpie as a place to have fun, connect with like-minded folks and hopefully have a positive effect on the lives of those who resonate with me.

Iโ€™ve decided to take a complete break from personal tarot readings for the time being. I plan on running the Silvery Magpie website as a blog, and creating more videos on YouTube, as a creative outlet and form of self expression. I love making โ€˜collective readingโ€™ videos, so Iโ€™m sure there will be more of those. However, there are so many more topics I want to explore, including tarot and oracle deck reviews, charm casting, pendulum divination, scrying, and maybe a little folk witchcraft.

If that sounds like your sort of thing, Iโ€™d love you to join me on this journey. I have no idea where weโ€™re going, but it wonโ€™t be dull!
